Update on Abandoned Vehicles Where You Live

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding abandoned or burnt-out vehicle issues, which people where you live are highlighting as an issue of concern in their survey responses.

Whilst on patrol around Spennymoor town, PCSO Scott Dinsdale identified a vehicle that was declared SORN (Statutory Off Road Notification) but was being kept on the public highway. The vehicle was also causing an obstruction to pedestrians on a footpath.
As a result, the vehicle was recovered and removed from the road.

A reminder to motorists that vehicles declared SORN must be kept OFF public roads. They cannot be parked or used on the highway, doing so may result in enforcement action, including the vehicle being removed.
